DVLA (Driver And Vehicle
Licensing Agency) can sell “fist issue” registrations- as a revenue
stream for the government it represents a sizeable income (£100m in
2006)
In the general
numberplate market- there are a handful of key players and many tens if
not hundreds of small
numberplate dealers,
numberplate traders and sole traders. These
numberplate traders and dealers buy and sell plates privately and at
numberplate auctions held by the DVLA.
Some numberplate
dealers are also
DVLA resellers- selling unissued DVLA registrations
from the 25million plus number of combinations.
With record breaking numberplates such as
F1, M1 and K1NGS, numberplates, the numberplate market and interest in
numberplates if firmly here to stay and has a wide and receptive
